Hello,

I am Elena Wang, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 6 years of experience providing culturally-sensitive psychotherapy in the San Francisco Bay Area in 3 different languages: English, Russian, and Mandarin. Prior to coming to psychology field I worked in a finance sector in Russia and China. I personally navigated a transition to a more fulfilling career and moved across the world. My personal experiences help me connect with people in a unique genuine way.

I specialize in working with adolescence, families, couples, and adults going through difficult life transitions, navigating relational problems and  complicated relational dynamics, multi-cultural relationships, interpersonal problems, health issues stemming from imbalances in life, and more. I work with people from various backgrounds including tech workers juggling demanding jobs with personal life, immigrants grappling with a cultural shift and its impact on their identity, and those in crisis seeking relief from their pain.

My approach

You won’t get a bunch of “tools” to fix your life from me. Instead, you will get a chance to be heard and understood, to explore your life and make new meanings. My approach is informed by psychodynamic and relational theory. I pay a lot of attention to the relationships in the room and view it as a reflection of how the person has learned to cope with life challenges in the past and how they are dealing with them in the present. I focus on providing people with a safe space to help explore these dynamics, understand how and why they were created and work on changing them so that you feel lighter, have more self-acceptance, and feel better about who you are and your future.
